My mother in law just bought a condo in California. She is moving into it this month. She divorced a few years ago and this is her first place that is all hers! I need some unique ideas for a house warming present for her. She lives in a different state so whatever it is it will have to be mailed to her. I don't want flowers or a house knic-knac. I'm looking for a genuinely unique gift idea. This was a huge %26amp; scary step for her to take and my husband and I are totally proud of her. Thanks in advance!!
House-warming gift for Mother in Law?
How about a basic tool kit (Sears has good ones), a fastener kit (has hooks, nails, screws, etc), with a do-it-yourself book on home repairs?
I gave my girls and all of my nieces this set-up, when they went out on their own. They all loved it, they said it was the most practical gift they got.
Reply:It's not very personal, but I usually give a Home Depot gift card for house-warming. There is always stuff for the new home that you need to get there, whether it is hooks for the bathroom or paint or shelving or window coverings or whatever. You can send it with a scented candle with a holder or a super soft throw blanket (things that create "warmth") to make it more personal.
Reply:Hi, try here. And here are some fine handmade home decor. Good luck!
Reply:hi
I think you can give them oil painting from their photo means turn their photo in oil painting it will create nice impression on them.
Capture that special moment.turn it into a masterpiece that will last forever!

Reply:Hey!! Yippee for her and prayers for her new life!!
Someone else suggested a nice candle with a gift certificate to Home Depot or somewhere. Always nice.
I make everyone afghans in their colors! or weave them a table center piece. But not everyone is set up to do these things.
how about a picture of you and your obviously lovely hubby in a very nice frame? with a note from the 2 of you wishing her the best of luck. I know it sounds a bit selfish, but it really isn't. It's what I would like to have from my kids!!
Reply:How about some Gift Certificates to a local restaurant or other entertainment venue? It will help her learn her new area and maybe even meet some new friends.
Give her my best wishes for her new start!
Reply:I don't know her, but I'm happy for her to, Its always a nice thing to here how people have picked themself up and started over again Good Luck to Her. Maybe you can see what kind of Bedspread and Curtains to match you can get her. One way is to get a copy of one you like and send it to her. Or get her a gift certificate for one, and send her a special frame with the family picture in it.Radio Shack sells a frame that you can also record your message , so she can hear you .
Reply:Unique art gift is the best present.
There is a web site –photoartomation.com ( http://www.photoartomation.com ), they convert a digital photos into paintings of different art styles and print them on canvas.
My friend sent them a picture and they turned it into beautiful piece of art. I saw it and it really looks good.
Reply:Get him a personalized keepsake wine bottle http://www.giftweblog.com/2006/10/06/per...
Reply:I would get her a painting for one of her walls. If you know her taste and what furniture she has this should work well. The gift certificate for home depot are good but if she is divorced who is going to do the work for her? You can also get her patio furniture if she has a deck or porch.
Reply:ya know, I have found that wall mirrors are great house warming gifts. make sure that the frame will go with her decor. You can get them for a great price at Ross or even wal-mart. They have a way of making a room brighter and more inviting. Mirrors can be easily packaged at a UPS store and if you buy insurance on the shipping then you are guarantied that it will be safe. Heck it's just an idea.
Reply:send her a chippendales singing telling gram.....shes free and be all she can be..go for it mama.
