Why are priorities so wrong in the UK?

i.e. the NHS is strapped of cash but they pay to have the word "NHS" printed in a repeated format on sheeting that covers the scaffolding outside our local hospital which surely costs more than if it were plain canvess sheeting!

i.e. A traffic Warden reportedly earns more money than a Soldier serving his or her country

i.e. The local councils spend money on planting flowers on roundabouts but then state they don't have enough money to assist the elderly or infirm

What the hell is going on and why do we put up with it?

Why are priorities so wrong in the UK?
we also give more money to Mr.Abdul and his six kids whilst people who have paid tax their whole life get nothing.
Reply:I don't agree with wasting money but how far do we have to progress before there is nothing on the planet that is a more deserving cause than planting flowers on roundabouts? It could take a thousand years. It might never happen. Do we just never have anything decorative at all, because the money could always be better spent elsewhere? There are other factors to be considered, such as attracting visitors and investment, encouraging pride in our surroundings (and maybe as a consequence reducing crime), and of course people get jobs planting the flowers, companies employ people to grow them etc... so it's not an entirely black and white issue.

You're absolutely right about the sheeting and the soldiers though.
Reply:i believe we are heading for something big- we cannot go on like this. Hundreds of valuable people are leaving in droves and the middle people are constantly shafted, within 10 years something will give!
Reply:Priorities are wrong in many countries my friend. That is just the way it goes and unfortunately we the people have to stay on top of it.
Reply:the soul needs flowers on roundabouts.
