For the winter season?

Since winter here in North Dakota is fast approaching what can i do to spice up the exterior of my new house. I'm big into gardening so i'm kind of bummed that the flowers are going to be gone. I have a traditional style white house with two dormers and a front porch that extends the entire front. I have recently added burgundy shutters but am looking for something else to decorate it with. Any ideas to keep it looking plain and white like the rest of this state will look for 6 months

For the winter season?
having spent the first 25 years of my life in N.D.,i can only say your question is tough as nothing really helps a house stand out when winter is that long, the nicest houses in winter are those that have trees/shrubs that stay green ,plant some abrovities and juniper bushes. or you might of adding a color that is complimentary to your shutters to your porch railing or pillars ...whatever you may have...better idea...make the inside of your house as nice as you can because that is where you will spend the majority of those long six months
Reply:Old wooden kid sleds found at tag sales, auction houses and antique shops painted a deep red with glossy black rungs make a lovely ornament in the snow. Placing them against an evergreen is even more pleasing. They can be decorated with evergreens, ribbons, presents, whatever. Use your imagination.
Reply:been there, done that, too cold , i moved.

sorry i can't help you more.

paint the snow (not yellow) like my dad did. he painted it green - like grass.

i'm telling you, that story gets funnier and funnier the older i get. he has a great sense of humor.
Reply:If you have the decorative poles (what I mean by that is the poles aren't all straight only at the bottom and top and have bead like balls in the middle) on your front porch paint them different colors (no more than three colors total) but make sure one of the colors match your shutters. You will love it and so will everybody that passes by!
