I can't afford to send flowers. She's in another state and having surgery tomorrow. Any ideas as to what I could send her?

Good question. you can try sending her a get well card or maybe a mixed cd that you can make for her with all her favorite songs and tell her that you are thinking about her and you hope that she gets well soon
