Why were these choosen?
These state mascots were chosen for their beauty as well as their presence in the state of Pennsylvania.
An additional reason that they were chosen is due to the fact that no other state had recognized them as state mascots.
Reply:Just because they may not have been recognize doesn't mean that's the reason they were chosens. The Cardinal is the state bird of WV, Ohio, NC, and several other states. It just has to do with the popularity of the species.
